A message from Kyle …

Hello everyone! We’ll be working through 2 things today - 1.) is a vocal exercise (you will need a bottle of water and a straw for this) and 2.) is our task - where we will be focusing on artistry through the power of soul music - oh yeah, that’s right! All will be revealed in my video but what I would like you to think about during today’s task is bringing your individuality into singing. There are two songs to choose from - Stand By Me and Natural Woman - both of which provide a great base for you to develop your own style. Experiment with finding your ‘own sound’ and send your videos to nicci@arielct.co.uk in your Ariel uniform, using the WeTransfer link.

Singing - Erin

Hello Orsinos and Tempests! This week we will be working on singing and dancing at the same time. Beth and I have collaborated on this piece so please learn the singing in this session and then move to Beth's dance session to learn the corresponding choreography.

If you watch my intro video, I have provided you with some tips in how to improve your skills in singing and dancing at the same time. Please watch this before learning the song in order to get the most out of this lesson.

The song you are learning this week is 'I See Fire' by Ed Sheeran. I would like you to all sing the lead section and then choose either the tune or one of the harmonies to sing for the rest of the song. Please make sure you play the track with the other parts on it when you record your video so we can hear how they all fit together.

I strongly encourage you to practise both disciplines together but if you would prefer to record the singing and dance in separate videos, that would be absolutely fine. We would still like to see what you've been up to.

Get your Ariel uniforms on, and send your videos to nicci@arielct.co.uk using the WeTransfer link.

Daily 5 Minute Vocal Warm Up
Lost boy Full version
Lost Boy BT

Singing -

A message from Marisha …

Hello Orsinos and Tempests. This week, I have set the song ‘Lost Boy’ by the artist Ruth B. This is a pop song and the main objective for this lesson is to focus on your tone. As this song is softer in style, this gives you a really good opportunity to think about your dynamics and control. I would also like you to think about the meaning behind the song - the lyrics are beautiful and respond to the story of Peter Pan and touches on themes such as loneliness, friendship and the power of imagination. If there is a song that is speaking to you lyrically at the moment that you would like to record and send over instead, please feel free to do so. Please get your Ariel uniforms on and send your videos to nicci@arielct.co.uk using the link below.

 message from Chelsea …

Hi Orsinos & Tempests. So the song I’ve chosen for you this week is a mash-up of two really popular musical songs. One of those is 'You Will Be Found' from ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ and the other is 'The Story of Tonight' from ‘Hamilton’. Both of these tracks feel really relevant at the moment.

There’s lots of options this week, you can learn one part and sing with me or learn both parts and create a duet yourself or you could liaise with another student from Ariel and record something together remotely? Enjoy and I look forward to your responses. Remember to send your videos in your Ariel uniform to nicci@arielct.co.uk via the WeTransfer link.

A message from Erin … This week we are going to be working on putting together mash-ups. Before you start, please ensure that you have adequately warmed (including bodily/face stretches). I have attached a couple of exercises to help you improve your vocal agility and vocal chord flexibility as well as your breath control, so please have a go at these too.

Following that, I would like you to listen to the 'A-Team' backing track I've attached. Once familiar with the structure of the music, I'd like you to choose another song and fit it to this backing track as best you can. This may involve changing the key, tempo and parts of the song structure. I have attached an example if you'd like to listen to that first! If you'd then like to add another song, please feel free to do that. I want you to be as creative as possible.

Finally, I have attached vocal parts for a mash-up involving three songs: 'Toxic' by Britney Spears, 'Look What You Made Me Do' by Taylor Swift and 'What You Waiting For' by Gwen Stefani. It's up to you what you would like to learn, I have attached vocal tracks which allow you to sing one of the parts along with the other two but if you'd like to record two or three of the parts, that would be absolutely fine. You could also collaborate with other Ariel students and each learn a part. Please make sure you send your videos in to nicci@arielct.co.uk, I'd love to see how you've been getting on.

Singing - Leanne

A message from Leanne …

Hello Orsinos and Tempests! Today we will be focusing on breath control, which sometimes gets forgotten about when we invest ourselves in a song. Please join me in the warm ups I have prepared, as this is essential in achieving effective breath control.

I have selected two tracks today, one that is typically sung by a female and the other suits a male voice - Burn from Hamilton and Santa Fe from Newsies. Please have a listen to both tracks and pick the song you feel suits you best (don’t worry about the gender of the song!) Please apply the breath control techniques I have discussed and send in your videos to nicci@arielct.co.uk using the link below.

A message from Abi …

Hi everyone! This week, Orla (my daughter) has been singing the songs of Frozen 2 on loop so I have taken inspiration from this and thought a song called ’Show Yourself’ would be a good chance to get some harmony practise in! You’ll see below Elsa’s tune, a harmony line and a backing track. You can learn the harmony and sing with Elsa or if you have other keen singers in your household, you could try learning each part and perform to the backing track. Lots of options! Have fun and please send what you’ve been working on to nicci@arielct.co.uk in your Ariel uniform!

Hello Orsinos and Tempests. I’m super excited to bring you your online singing lesson today. I’ve chosen something that is fun, upbeat and feel good. The song is ‘I’ve Got You’ from Bring It On: The Musical. Please pick a harmony line, film yourself and send it back to nicci@arielct.co.uk using the WeTransfer link below. The hope this that by the end, we’ll have enough people on each harmony line to create one big number. There’s lots of lines to choose from so listen to the full song first and then decide which part you’d like to give a go!

Enjoy!

Message from Marisha …

Hi everyone! This is our second week of online lessons and we just want to thank everyone for taking part and sending in your videos, it’s so positive to see.

So this week, slightly different, we have one song for everybody to learn. The song is ‘Here Comes The Sun’ and it is the Glee version. What we’d like to do is get everyone’s videos in, including the tutors as well, and we’re going to put together one collaboration video using clips from everyone’s videos.

There is a harmony, so if any Orsinos and Tempests would like to give it a go - that would be great - it will give us some nice layers. Backing track and lyrics are there too. Have a go. Please send in your videos and we’ll put together a big Ariel Academy collaboration of ‘Here Comes The Sun.’
